Employee Recognition
NMUSD participates in the Orange County Department of Education Classified Employee of the Year (CSEY) recognition program. The CSEY program was created as a way to identify and honor exemplary California classified school employees.
The nomination categories are:
- Clerical and Administrative Services
- Custodial and Maintenance Services
- Food and Nutrition Services
- Health and Student Services
- Paraprofessional
- Security Services
- Skilled Trades
- Technical Services
- Transportation Services
All candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Current permanent employee in our school district.
- Rank and file employee, not management or supervisory position.
- Minimum of five years of service in nominated category at NMUSD; no minimum FTE.
- May not have been previously nominated, (candidates can only be nominated once per category in their career).

Employee Service Awards are distributed in the spring for employees that have served NMUSD for 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 Years. The distribution schedule is based on Hire Date/Longevity Date and the pins are distributed the year following completion of the designated years of service.
The Human Resources Department along with the Board of Education, recognizes the District Retirees for the school year at the Board of Education Meeting in June.
