Q. How can I get information about specific job opportunities?

All job openings are posted on our web page.

Q. How will I know that you have received my electronic application?
A.
 If you provide us with an e-mail address on your application, you will receive an electronic confirmation if you have successfully submitted the application. In addition you will receive a confirmation message and number on your computer screen after you have clicked the submit button. You might also receive an error message, which will direct you to make certain changes and resubmit.

Q. What should I expect after I submit my electronic application?
A. After you have submitted the application, you will receive a confirmation email with instruction to attach your supporting documents online. Your supporting documents must include a cover letter stating the position for which you are applying, a current resume, three current professional letters of recommendation, copies of your CBEST scores, subject matter competence exam scores (CSET, PRAXIS/SSAT, MSAT, NTE) all credentials you currently hold, and all post-high school transcripts. Hard copies of these documents are no longer accepted for certificated applications.

Q. Can I make changes to my application once I have submitted it?
A.
 Yes, you may edit your application at any time. However, you are not able to delete any documents you have attached, but you may at any time add additional documents.

Q. I sent in my electronic application, but I have not heard from any principals. Can you tell me the status of my file?
A.
 Please keep in mind that all principals have access to the database where your application is stored and that they make the contacts for interviews. We are fortunate to have a very large applicant base, and therefore, not every applicant will be contacted. Once the school site makes a recommendation for hire, the final hiring process is taken over by the office of the Director of Human Resources. Feel free to email a one-page resume to any site where you see an opening that interests you.

The Credentials Team serves all certificated and management team members. Our main role is to ensure all our certificated staff are appropriately credentialed and assigned. We work with The California Department of Education, The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and The Orange County Department of Education to ensure the District is adhering to all current legislation. We are here to assist you with any questions you may have regarding Credentialing, No Child Left Behind Legislation, Contracts, Salary Placements, Management Professional Growth, and Background Checks. Credentials also assists with questions for The Paraprofessional Program and STRS Waivers/Exemptions.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing has notified the District that all clear, professional and professional clear credential holders renew their credentials online. The online renewal process requires access to the internet and payment by VISA or MasterCard.

In accordance with the July 1, 2010 Memorandum of Understanding that was signed and agreed upon between Newport-Mesa Federation of Teacher and Newport-Mesa Unified School District, the voluntary transfer process was completed July 9, 2010.

Any current unit members interested in positions posted on the Newport-Mesa Unified School District employment website will have priority consideration for open positions. For priority consideration, current unit members must apply to open positions by submitting a letter of intent to Human Resources and by completing the online application.

Requests for priority consideration for current unit members who are certificated and qualified for any open position, will be accepted at the District’s Human Resources office only when openings are posted.

All deadlines for openings must be met in order for current unit members to be given their priority consideration.

At this time, there are no transfer applications available for our employees to fill out. If you are interested in a transfer please apply via the open position application process.
